SIP & goal calculator

See what a monthly SIP can grow to — or work backwards from a goal to the SIP you need, after inflation.

Your own assumption — not a forecast or a promise. Try a cautious case and a middle case and compare.
A 10% step-up roughly matches a typical annual raise.

How it works

The maths, in plain English.

Growth. Each monthly instalment compounds at your expected return divided by twelve. With a step-up, the instalment rises once a year. We assume you invest at the start of each month.

Today's rupees. ₹1 crore in twenty years will not buy what ₹1 crore buys today. We divide the future value by inflation so you can judge it in today's money.

Goal mode. We first inflate the goal's cost to the year you need it, then solve for the SIP that reaches that figure.

Questions

FAQ

What return should I assume for a SIP?
No one can know future returns, so treat this box as an assumption, not a forecast. Try more than one number — a cautious case and a middle case — and see how much the answer moves. A lower assumption asks you to save more and makes the plan safer; past returns of any fund or index do not guarantee future returns.
What is a step-up SIP?
A SIP that increases by a fixed percentage every year, usually in line with your salary increase. Even a 10% annual step-up can nearly double the final corpus over 20 years compared with a flat SIP.
Is the SIP amount shown after tax?
No. Equity fund gains above ₹1.25 lakh a year are taxed at 12.5% when you sell after one year (long-term capital gains). For large goals, plan for that tax when you withdraw.
Does this calculator recommend any fund?
No. It is a maths tool. It does not recommend funds, and nothing here is investment advice.
